A short but very steep trail: it climbs about 1,200 m in 3.2 km (6.4 km return) from the Cougar Creek trailhead to the ridge of Mount Lady Macdonald, west of Cougar Creek. The path is well defined and reaches the site of a former, now defunct teahouse, with a panoramic view of the Bow Valley and the peaks around Canmore.
Beyond that point, the ridge to the summit is narrow, exposed and loose: it's only for experienced scramblers. For most people, the teahouse site is the safe place to turn around. There's very little water along the way, so bring enough.
The trail starts at the Cougar Creek trailhead in Canmore: walk about 0.8 km on the Cougar Creek Trail, then take the Lady Macdonald Trail turnoff.
