Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Hediny is a free guide to what to do today in your city: events, places, trails and the day's conditions. This policy explains what data we handle, why, and what you can do about it.
What data we handle
- Your account (if you sign in): your email and name. Google provides them if you sign in with Google; with an email link, only your email. We never ask for or store passwords.
- Events you post: title, date, category, location, address, image and organizer name. They are public on the site. If you post the first event in a city Hediny doesn't cover yet, that city is created from the event's location.
- Comments: the text you write on a page. It's published with your first name (the one Google provides) or, if there isn't one, a generic name.
- Correction suggestions: the text you send us about a page, linked to your account in case we need to ask you something. It isn't published.
- Favorites: the pages you save. Without an account they stay in your browser only; with an account, in your account.
- Anonymous usage measurement: your browser stores a random number that isn't linked to your name, email or account. We use it to count visits, how many people come back, which pages and listings are opened and which buttons are tapped (website, call, directions, book, Instagram). We also store the country you connect from, but not your IP address.
- Location: to pick the nearest city we use the approximate location of your connection, or your device's location only if you allow it. We don't store it.
- Technical data: basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) generated by our hosting providers, and visit statistics from Google Analytics (for example, country, device type and which site you came from).
We don't handle payment data: Hediny doesn't sell anything or process payments.
Why we use it
- To keep you signed in and show your events, favorites and comments on any device.
- To show and moderate the content you post.
- To review and apply the corrections you suggest.
- To understand how Hediny is used and improve it, with aggregate figures.
- To contact you if there's a problem with something you posted.
- To prevent abuse and spam.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. These providers process it on Hediny's behalf:
- Supabase: database, accounts and image storage.
- Vercel: site hosting and visit statistics.
- Resend: sign-in emails.
- MapTiler: maps and address lookup.
- Google Analytics: visit statistics. We turn off Google signals and ad personalization.
Any figures we show third parties (for example, how many people tapped "directions" for a place) are always aggregated and never identify anyone.
Storage in your browser
We use your browser's local storage and a first-party cookie to remember your session, language, city, favorites without an account and the anonymous measurement number. Google Analytics also stores its own cookies (for example, "_ga") to count visits. We don't use advertising cookies. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or fully delete your data, including your account, by writing to info@hediny.com. You can also delete your events from "My events", delete your comments, remove your favorites and sign out at any time.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll publish the new version on this page with its date.
