An almost flat walk that starts at Cave and Basin and follows the edge of the wetlands toward the Bow River. It's a good choice for a slow walk, birdwatching or a short outing with kids.
Horses use this trail too: if you meet riders, step aside and let them pass.
Start at the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, at the end of Cave Avenue, a few minutes from downtown Banff.

Most of the year. Expect mud after rain and ice in winter.
Elk graze in these meadows, especially in the morning and evening. Keep at least 30 m away, and more during the fall rut and spring calving season.
