A rolling loop around a lake with views of Cascade Mountain and Mount Rundle. It crosses open slopes and passes some of the oldest Douglas fir trees in Alberta.
It mixes uneven paved and natural surface with lots of roots and rocks, some step bridges and a narrow section on the north shore. There are picnic tables along the way.
The trailhead is at the Johnson Lake Day-use Area, 12 km east of Banff, at the end of Johnson Lake Road (off Lake Minnewanka Road). Roam route 6 runs in summer.

Most of the year. In winter and spring it can be icy: wear shoes with good grip.
This is bear country. Hike in a group, make noise, carry bear spray within reach and know how to use it. Keep at least 100 m from any bear.
