A flat loop through old spruce forest and wetlands along Forty Mile Creek, a short walk from downtown Banff. It's quiet early in the morning and a good first walk for kids.
The trailhead is at the Fenland Trail parking area, west of Mount Norquay Road. From downtown Banff it's about a 20-minute (1.5 km) walk northwest.

Snow-free from late spring to fall. It is often muddy after rain.
Elk use this area year-round, especially during the fall rut and spring calving. Keep at least 30 m away, and turn back if an elk blocks the trail.
