A 2 km loop on a wide gravel path along both banks of the Bow River, at the edge of downtown Canmore. It crosses several bridges, including the historic Engine Bridge, and passes Riverside Park, a lovely spot for a picnic.
The views of the river and the mountains around Canmore make it one of the town's most popular walks. It's wheelchair accessible, though unpaved. The Town of Canmore calls it the Engine Bridge Loop.
Paid parking is available at the Canmore Boat Launch, at Riverside Park and in other Town Centre lots. Public washrooms at Riverside Park.
📍 Riverside Park, Canmore, Alberta
It can be walked year-round. In winter and during thaws the gravel can be icy or muddy: wear shoes with good grip.
The Bow River is a wildlife corridor and elk are common in Canmore, even in town. Keep at least 30 m from elk and deer and 100 m from bears, and never feed wildlife. Check today's alerts before you go.
