A forested trail that leads to a large alpine lake surrounded by mountains. The elevation gain is gentle, but the path is bumpy: rocks, boulders, roots, wet and muddy spots and some small streams.
It's long for an easy trail, so bring water and snacks and plan on half a day.
The trailhead is at the Boom Lake Day-use Area on Highway 93 South, about 38 km northwest of Banff.

Summer to early fall. Snow and mud can linger on the trail into late spring.
This is bear country. Hike in a group, make noise, carry bear spray within reach and know how to use it. Keep at least 100 m from any bear.
