Moraine Lake is one of Canada's most photographed lakes: intensely turquoise water ringed by the ten peaks of the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The classic view is from the Rockpile Trail, a short path beside the parking area.
Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles year-round. You get there on the Parks Canada shuttle (CAD 12.75 per adult in 2026, plus a CAD 3.50 online reservation fee), with licensed commercial operators, or with a Roam pass that includes the Lake Connector. The 2026 season runs from June 1 to October 12; outside those dates the road is closed.
It's about 14 km from Lake Louise village and roughly an hour from Banff. You need a Banff National Park pass to visit (CAD 12.25 per adult per day in 2026). Shuttle seats sell out fast: book ahead.
