About this place
From the parking lot, a brief descent (0.6 km each way, about 30 minutes round trip according to Parks Canada) leads to a footbridge over the zig-zag curves of Mistaya Canyon, with the river roaring below. You can see water sculpting the limestone gorge.
Parks Canada asks visitors not to walk out on the rocks along the canyon edge. The trail is maintained in summer only, and in October 2026 it has sections of extensive erosion.
You need a national park pass to stop on the Icefields Parkway.
