About this place
Lake Louise is the great classic of Banff National Park: an emerald lake with Victoria Glacier behind it and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise on its shore. Walk the lakeshore trail, rent a canoe in summer, or hike longer trails to viewpoints and teahouses. In winter the lake freezes and becomes a skating rink.
It's about 57 km from Banff (around 45 minutes). From May 15 to October 12, 2026, the lakeshore parking lot costs CAD 42 per vehicle per day and fills up very early; the alternative is the Parks Canada shuttle (CAD 12.75 per adult) or the Roam 8X bus from Banff, which runs year-round.
You need a Banff National Park pass to visit (CAD 12.25 per adult per day in 2026).
