From the parking lot, a 50 m paved path leads to a viewpoint above the Athabasca River, known for mountain goats on the steep slopes and hanging glaciers in the distance.
Parks Canada recommends bringing binoculars for wildlife viewing.
You need a national park pass to stop on the Icefields Parkway.
