Cerro San Cristóbal is the summit of Santiago's Metropolitan Park (Parquemet), between Providencia and Recoleta. From the top you can see much of the city and, on clear days, the Andes. The Sanctuary of the Virgin stands at the summit.
How to get up:
• Funicular: running since 1925. It leaves from the Pío Nono entrance in Bellavista, stops at the National Zoo and reaches the summit.
• Cable car: its main station (Oasis) is on the east side, near Pedro de Valdivia Metro. It has three stations and passes over native forest, with views of Costanera Center, the Mapocho River and the Andes. It runs Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 6:45 pm (last boarding a few minutes before closing); closed Mondays for maintenance. Return trip from Oasis station: from CLP 4,050.
• Cable car II (since February 2026): links the Pío Nono entrance, by the Zoo, with Plaza México station, a few metres from the summit. The 1,000-metre ride takes about 7 minutes.
• On foot or by bike, along the park roads.
The park also has the National Zoo, the Japanese Garden and, from November to March, the Tupahue and Antilén pools (separate tickets).
Park hours: every day, including public holidays, 6:00 am to 8:30 pm. On weekends and holidays after 1:30 pm, cyclists face restrictions on the route to the summit from Tupahue.
Price: entering the park is free. The funicular, cable cars, zoo and pools have their own tickets, priced by section (one way or return) and for adults, children and seniors. The "Vive el Parque" ticket covers the cable cars, the funicular and the panoramic buses, from CLP 11,500. Tickets are sold on the official Teleférico Santiago website and at parquemet.cl.
