About this place
Just 30 minutes north of Lake Louise, Bow Lake has, according to Parks Canada, some of the most iconic roadside views on the entire Icefields Parkway. The Bow River starts here, flowing from the Wapta Icefield over Bow Glacier Falls.
There are two access points: the viewpoint and picnic area (summer only), 1.3 km south of the main access road, and the main parking area on the north shore, on the road toward The Lodge at Bow Lake. From there, a short gravel trail reaches the shore year-round, and the Bow Glacier Falls trail begins. In summer both lots get extremely busy: come early or late in the day.
You need a national park pass to stop on the Icefields Parkway.
